Beyer Named Dean of CIU College of Arts and Sciences
Dr. Bryan Beyer
Dr. Bryan Beyer has been named dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Ƶ (CIU).
Beyer has been a professor at CIU since 1985, and served as undergraduate dean from 1994-2001, and as dean of students from 2001-2004. Most recently, Beyer served as director of the Biblical Languages program at CIU. In addition to his commitment to the classroom at both undergraduate and graduate level at CIU, Beyer has also focused on writing and international travel.
Since 1997, Dr. Beyer has served as chair of the Associated Schools for Jerusalem University College, and since 2003, as General Bible/Old Testament Book Review Editor for the “Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society” (JETS). He has authored or co-authored three books on the Old Testament, and assisted in the translation of the book of Jeremiah in the Holman Christian Standard Bible.
He has served as faculty advisor to the International Students Ministries at CIU and regularly takes students to Israel on summer study tours. His overseas ministry has included teaching at Portantorchas Bible School in Costa Rica, at the Center for Christian Leadership in Tirana, Albania, at CIU's branch campus in Korntal, Germany, and Israel study tours for church groups.
Beyer has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Colorado State University, a Master of Divinity degree from Denver Seminary, and a Ph.D. from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion.
CIU Provost Dr. James Lanpher says Beyer is a great fit for CIU’s College of Arts and Sciences.
“Dr. Bryan Beyer holds a high standard for academic excellence for the professional programs in the College of Arts and Sciences, such as Communication, Psychology, Music, Business and English,” Lanpher said. “But Beyer also has a heart for seeing CIU’s undergraduates grow spiritually, which is a key component to a CIU education.”
Beyer replaces Dr. Pat Blewett who resigned from Ƶ in July to serve in church ministry in Nebraska.
