The first graduate of Ƶ’s online Ph.D. in Theological Studies calls the program, “discipleship at a very high level.”
That graduate is Dr. Josh Waltman, 33, who serves as a librarian and adjunct professor at Liberty University.
“I really can’t say enough good about (the program),” said Waltman who travelled to Columbia from his home in Lynchburg, Virginia to take part in CIU’s April 30 commencement.
“The way that (the program) is set up, the faculty that I encountered — it was fantastic through and through.”
As the first to graduate of the program Waltman is a pioneer of sorts and hopes he represents the program well.
“It really did prepare me for not just a life in the academy, but a life in ministry and service to the church,” said Waltman, who also serves as an elder in his church. “I feel a responsibility to honor that preparation with faithfulness.”
Mostly Waltman is impressed with the personal and professional guidance he received from Ƶ faculty during his two and a half years in the program.
“What you’re getting with the mentorship, what you’re getting with the missions focus, the school, it’s first rate. It really is.”
