The CIU Rams new head volleyball coach knows what it takes to win.

Katie Weiss comes to CIU after six years as the head women's volleyball coach at Bethel University (Ind.), where she took a team that went 14-21 in 2017 to a 25-8 record, NAIA National Championship Tournament bid, and an NCCAA Women's Volleyball National Championship in 2020. Weiss was named the 2020 Crossroads League Coach of the Year and the 2020 NCCAA National Coach of the Year.

"I'm honored to join the team at Ƶ. This is an exciting opportunity to build on an already strong program with a winning tradition,” Weiss said. “I was impressed with the gracious and friendly community here at CIU. My family is excited to make South Carolina our home and make the Rams our extended family.”

Weiss replaces two-time AAC Coach of the year Amber Haver who started the program in 2018. Havercrafted the Rams into one of the Southeast's premier NAIA volleyball teams wining both the AAC regular season and tournament championship in 2023. Haver now coaches at the University of North Carolina-Asheville.
