Perhaps the most important core value of Ƶ is the Authority of Scripture.

At the annual Authority of Scripture Week, students were challenged by 2003 CIU alumnus Dr. John Meade of Phoenix Seminary, who spoke on the history of the canon of the Bible.

Meade opened the week with a discussion on how all 66 books of the Bible complement each other. He contrasted that with examples of suspect false gospels that some have attempted to add to the Bible over the years.

The next day, he spoke how the Bible can be trusted despite having been copied several times.

On a CIU Prayer Day, Meade delivered concluding remarks in a Q&A with Bible Professors Dr. Ben Noonan and Dr. Michael Lyons who organized the week.

Additionally, students were invited to the Chapel stage before the start of each message to showcase their Bible knowledge and participate in quizzes. Also contributing to the fun was a Scripture scavenger hunt.

Joshua Kirkpatrick, a junior, called the week, “excellent.”

“(Dr. Meade) was able to show that even though a certain text may be thousands of years old as opposed to hundreds, we can still rely on the content because it is the unfailing Word of God.”
