CIU nursing students challenged to meet medical mission needs

November 28, 2022

For the last 12 years, the director of ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ’s nursing program, Dr. Jill McElheny, has served with International Relief, traveling to many countries around the world. She expresses a deep desire to lead CIU nursing students to serve as the hands and feet of Christ as they care for patients.

That’s why this fall, McElheny travelled to Florida with CIU nursing students and other nursing faculty to attend the Samaritan’s Purse Prescription for Renewal medical missions conference. It provided the students with exposure to medical mission opportunities.

The students were also introduced to several options to serve in medical missions while making valuable connections with other medical professionals who work in both long-term and short-term missions all over the world, and learned more about Samaritan’s Purse student internships in all areas of service, including nursing.

And some even got to meet the president and CEO of Samaritan’s Purse, , eldest son of the late evangelist Billy Graham.

For a sampling of what the CIU students experienced at the conference, take a look at this video from Samaritan’s Purse.
